We have 'tied the knot' with the Crossroads Care, an organisation which provides vital respite breaks for people caring for relatives with debilitating conditions. Throughout 2014,we will host a series of events to raise cash for Crossroads Care Brentwood, Basildon & Districts which is based in Hutton.
In spring and autumn we will will stage a “Carer’s Event” with all profits donated to Crossroads Care and in the summer, we will host an afternoon tea for children associated with the charity. Crossroads Care offers a range of support services to improve the quality of life for people around Brentwood, Basildon, Billericay and Wickford who look after a relative full time at home.
As well as supplying trained home helpers, they also run day centres in for people with dementia and early memory loss, after school clubs for children with disabilities, and social groups for young people who are forced into caring for parents and siblings at home.
We are absolutely thrilled to begin working with Crossroads Care who make a huge difference to peoples’ lives. We will aim to raise a much as possible throughout the year, to support their charity and hopefully make a difference. So the charity can maintain the services that are benefitting hundreds of people across Brentwood.

HOW CROSSROADS HELP PEOPLE
The intense pressures of caring for a loved one can sometimes become unbearable. At Crossroads, our goal is to relieve that pressure not only by providing the all important short breaks, but also with practical and emotional support for anyone affected by a care need. We aim to:
- Give carers a few precious hours to be themselves
- Relieve stress in families responsible for the care of sick or disabled people
- Reduce the feeling of isolation experienced by many carers
- Avoid admission to hospital or residential care of a sick or disabled person
- Maintain the highest standards of care
Crossroads Care’s services across the Brentwood and Basildon areas currently include:
- Care support at home for adults or children with disabilities
- After School Clubs for children with a disability
- Weekly Day Care centres for people in the early stages of dementia or suffering premature memory loss.
In Brentwood and its surrounding parishes, they also offer:
- A Young Carers Club for carers aged 8-19 years
All of these services provide comfort and vital respite for people who care for another at home. It gives them a chance to breathe, to catch up with friends and to take their lives back.
